Biography

Glen Edward Miner Sr. was born to Lenora Baker and John Miner on February 21st 1930, in McAlester, Oklahoma. He is the middle child of 5 children. The Miner family moved to Buckeye, Arizona in 1934, when he was about 4 years old. Glen was drafted in the Army in June 1950; he served in Panama, until 1953. He served another 6 years in the reserves. After he was discharged from the Army, Glen joined the Iron Workers union and was an iron worker until he retired in 1988. Glen enjoys tinkering around in the yard, hunting and fishing, and reloading ammunition.

Reddetta Lee Rice was born to Barbara Smith and Clarence Rice on March 29th 1938 in Tucson Arizona. She is the third child of 4 children. The Rice family moved from Tucson to Oregon and back again with in a couple years span in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s. Clarence work for the Railroad until his death in 1943. The young four Rice children lived with their grandmother after his death. Reddetta attended school at Safford, Rescue and Tucson High. Reddetta managed the Miner household, with 4 kids and all the activities involved, this was definitely more that a full time job. Reddetta enjoys knitting, crocheting, and other types of hand crafting.

In 1955, the 2 was set up on a blind date. Glen was instantly smitten with Reddetta and asked her marry him. Glen went as far as to buy set wedding rings. Reddetta being only 16 at the time realized that she was much too young to get married. Reddetta got a job babysitting, and as a car hop. Glen made the long trek across town on a bicycle several times a week to court Reddetta.

In March of 1959, Glen asked Reddetta to marry him again; she finally gave in and said yes. They were married on March 14, 1959 in Lordsburg, New Mexico. They remember watching Old Suzanna on the TV during the ceremony.

Glen and Reddetta were baptized in the church November 1971, they were sealed in the St. George Temple, November 1979.

Glen and Reddetta have 4 children, 14 grand children and 9 great grand children and one on the way.
